For some devices, restart your phone and view the message again. Check your other SMS/MMS app. Even if the other app is not open, it may retrieve the MMS before Signal can. Signal has a size limit of kb for sending MMS. Reconfigure the APN settings for your phone.


An MMS issue I'd assume is more likely the carrier/service providers fault or phone MMS settings. They did just fix an issue with the MMS messages sent from the Signal app to non Signal users being too compressed, they are now x minimum, but that shouldn't impact receiving. Check MMS settings on your phone just in case. My story: I love Signal and have been avidly recommending it to friends and family recently as probably many of you have. Actual result: Signal unable to download MMS messages from non Signal users. This appears to be a system problem. For some reason, the phone is registering two CDMA subscriptions. And the phone switches between the subscriptions. After crashing the radio (unintentionally) it reinitializes and actually configures the mms config for subscription 2. Once the mms config is config'd, it's able to download the MMS without issue. It appears not to be a problem with Signal but 3rd party SMS/MMS apps in general. I was on One plus 6t experiencing the issue and followed this guide after updating to A I followed Option A, rebooted to recovery, using TWRP cleared Dalvik/ART cache.
